Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot decried “the toxicity in our public discourse” on Monday – just a week after saying “fuck Clarence Thomas.” In comments on the shooting at the Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park – where at least 6 people were killed and 24 others injured – Lightfoot said, “The toxicity in our public discourse is a thing I think we should all be concerned about, right? And it’s ironic obviously that we’re having this conversation and what happened on Independence Day.
