Exxon is banning the LGBTQ pride flag from being flown outside its Houston corporate office during pride month in June. The company updated guidance on acceptable flags which can be displayed outside offices, which included banning “external position flags,” including the pride flag and Black Lives Matter flag, according to the new policy obtained by Bloomberg News.
Mighty brave of Exxon in this highly charged and hostile political atmosphere, but great for them. I’m sure that if you did a random poll on employees who work for large corporations around the country most would say that they don’t want to be involved in any political shit, conservative or liberal, when it comes to their job. Most people work to earn a paycheck and pay their bills, put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. That’s it. When it comes to the workplace and politics and say religion, they shouldn’t go together. Save that shit for social media, your local town hall, cable news network or home instead of trying to shove your personal, political views down your co-worker’s throat. And Exxon seems to understand and respect that. In fact it’s just common sense.
