Iowa Becomes Latest State To End Federal Unemployment Benefits

Thousands of Iowans will stop receiving additional federal pandemic-related unemployment money next month, with Gov. Kim Reynolds citing a strong labor market and a recovering economy. The last week $300 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) benefits will be paid is the week ending June 12.

Personally, I don’t think making more money staying at home is the sole or even main reason people around the country don’t want to return to work. Other factors like the pandemic still going on, fear of receiving a vaccine, having to take care of loved one’s, higher crime rates, still being on furlough, people not wishing to work for minimum wage, etc. are also huge reasons for not working right now.
